  • excluding material from light

is it possible to exclude a material from affecting by a light? (in my case a refractive material)
apparently there is an option on 3dmax for doing such a thing, can i do that on vray 3 for rhino?

thanks in advance for any suggestion

    Hello,
Currently, you can only exclude a material from affecting/being affected by Global illumination and caustics using a Wrapper material (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...%7C+MtlWrapper).
You can achieve other interesting results by substituting one material with another only for reflection/refraction/GI/shadow effects by using an Override material ( https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...7C+MtlOverride )
Depending on the scene you have, you can also use a V-Ray Mesh Clipper to cut only light by using the exclude list for geometry and the "Affect lights" parameters. This truly can only work in specific scene compositions.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
