My firm recently upgraded to Vray 3.4 for SU Pro 2017 and noticed that the old Visopts will not work for the new version due to a change in the way Vray handles gamma settings. Does anyone have suggestions of good settings that can be applicable to most models, or links to Visopts that can be adjusted with our typical material settings? Our old settings were a bit brighter and had a softer appearance than the default settings and I don't know where to start to make adjustments that would look good for any rendering. We found the default settings to be a little too dramatic for the firm's style. We are a landscape architecture firm if that helps. Thanks!

The old .visopt files have a number of incompatibilities with V-Ray 3.4, not entirely related to the changes in gamma calculation. Not only they won't provide the same render output as in v2.0, but in some cases they might cause display problems in the Settings UI.
We suggest you start by choosing a Quality preset and adjusting the camera exposure in accordance with the lighting setup of your scene. There are no universal presets as each project requires individual approach.
There is a number of quick start video tutorials at https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ckStart+Guides which you may find useful.
Let me know if you have any further questions!

what I did when we migrated was open vray2 in one window and vray3 in another, and manually copied the settings in the vray ui. This gave me a good starting point, which was modified from there. I'm betting that you guys probably dialed in some special gamma and burn values along with maybe a bigger (softer) sun and maybe some softer AA settings.
if you post a screen cap of your old settings, we could probably walk you thru it. Just keep in mind that gamma/burn values are only accessible via the vfb in 3.4 and onward
