  • CUDA rendering long startup times.

I have a scene with 300MB geometry and 150MB textures.
Then I render it with the CPU it takes 2-3sec till the rendering starts.

But then I switch the Render Engine to CUDA it takes much longer (17-18sec)

I created vray Proxies for the Geometries but that didn't change anything

"Cache Plugin Geometry between renders" doesn't seem to work with CUDA rendering.

Is this just what I can expect or is there something wrong with my Settings or Setup?

    System:
    Windows 7 64Bit
    Vray 3.40.02 for Maya 2016.5 SP6
    Nvidia GTX970

    Have you tried V-Ray 3.52?

Not personally but I was told the problem is the same with vray 3.6 and a GTX1080.

It usually is expected to start somewhat slower. Depending on the case though, it might be a bug as well.

It's just that it seems to start much faster in 3ds Max.

Is that with the same V-Ray service packs? If so, we will try to reproduce that here.
