  • CPU Benchmark topic for Phoenix FD

    Hello,

My current rig, 2 x Xeon E5-2698v4 ES is very slow on Phoenix .
even i7-920(4 cores@2.67 ghz), 9-year-old cpu, still perform faster than it in simulation.

I 'm preparing for buying a new rig for Phoenix simulation on 3DsMax.

Because PhoenixFD still has no direct or actual its benchmark yet (like Vray)
So,what is CPU Benchmark software/topic that I should consider for comparing?

(Ex. PC Mark , VeraCrypt, HandBrake, Y-Cruncher, PassMark)

    Now I'm thinking about i7-6850k, i7-7700k, i7-7820X, i9-7900x

    Thank you.

    Hey,

I'm dropping this info just in case: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...sterSimulating

Dual or NUMA CPUs are not working well with Phoenix right now, so until we re-architecture the solvers to cope with this, I suggest you stick to single CPUs with the highest clock possible and put the number of cores in second place. High bus speed is also critical.

    Cheers!

      Thank, Svetlin.

As your suggestion, the answer is going to be i7-7700k with it highest support RAM bus(Of course Dual Channel), I think.

      But,

If I over clock 6850k to speed that same as 7700k(or even faster) and use quad channel RAM.
      Which one should be faster?

      And
What about benchmark software ? do you have any suggestion.

Currently there's no benchmark I'm afraid. If the guys behind V-Ray bench decide, I hope we could have a Phoenix in there as well one day I can't help but guess which CPU will do a better job in this case...
