  • FOAM render problem

Hello, Can anyone help me to figure out why I get an empty spot with no foam rendered at the end of the grid, these circles as you can see on the image attached. You may notice that I have ocean level set on 70 in dynamics and 72 in render tab, but I made this even both on 70 and did a test and there is no difference. Other time I had weird green shade following foam at he end of the grid in my animation (image2). Any ideas how to sort this out would be very useful because we've got imminent deadline next week

    Hey,

Is your Particle Shader connected to the simulator so that it can use its displacement?

The green areas are most likely not related to Phoenix - I can see them over the ocean surface as well.

    Cheers!

Hi Svetlin, I think it is, you can look at the image attached. It's says foam of system Liquid 01 which is this grid visible on the image

Hmm, in this case, is there any chance these areas are outside the simulated grid?

this empty circle will always be at the end of a grid, doesn't matter which frame it is, so if you run animation the empty circle patch would follow, I guess something weird happening at the end of a grid.

i suppose you container is not long enough to get negligible water curvature at the borders, when the foam leaves the grid it is initially at the positions that the water was while inside, then it relatively fast (but not immediately) reaches the zero level. in your case the foam is below the zero level, this means the boat wake has area with sub zero level at the borders. just play with the grid length, hopefully there will be certain length where the cut off water curve has no (or small enough) sub zero areas.

Thanks, that makes sense, will try this and let you know if that helps

Thanks Ivaylo Katev, that was the case, I made container much longer so the foam leaves the grid at zero level and it rendered absolutely fine
