  • V-ray distributed rendering crashes

Hi, we are rendering a heavy scene in 3ds max on a couple of computers and one computer always crashes. When i try to render the scene on that computer alone without DR, it also crashes but if i lower the count of the grass in the scene it renders just fine. Most computers are similar but the one that crashes has a slightly older CPU. The computer that crashes has a i7 4790k. 4 of the other PCs that run fine are with newer 6 core i7s but there is one i7 6700 which from online benchmarks doesnt look better than the 4790k except that its newer. Could the crashes be from the CPU? all computers have 32 gigs of RAM and the crash occurs when 3d max starts filling the RAM quickly.

What are V-Ray and 3dsMax versions?
i7 4790k is not so outdated processor so if there is no other differences between the machine we don't think it could be the culprit for the crash.
Can you give us more details about the machines specifications and the difference between them?

Also are you using a 3rd party plugin to generate grass or you are using V-Ray tools like V-Ray Fur?

It looks like a insufficient memory issue so far. What's the memory consumption between that and other machines?

The culprit was either WINDOWS and/or the GPU which started giving problems after i wrote the thread. Got a new card and a fresh Windows and the problem disappeared.
