  • MAC: How to import materias via V-ray in SKETCH UP 2017 for MAC with V-ray 3.

I'm completely new to V-ray. Following a Lynda.com class on V-ray for sketch up I have now been stuck for almost 2 hours. When I try to import materials (bitmap pictures of bricks) via the V-ray Browser, It doesnt show up in my sketch up color window (as the "materials" window is named in the mac version). I'm importing the material picture through the v-ray asset editor as it is done in the tutorial. I do everything as in the tutorial and choosing to label the material as "generic" in the v-ray browser. But when I have to paint the texture with the paint bucket tool, its no where to be found! HELP!
Here is a link to the tutorial: https://www.lynda.com/SketchUp-tutor...?autoplay=true

    Hi,

Could you please advise what the size of the texture file is?
We are aware of an issue when large file size textures are used for a material causing the synchronization between V-Ray and SketchUp to hang at a certain point and the reason why the texture does not appear in the viewport.
Please note that this issue has been resolved and the solution has been implemented for the V-Ray 3.6 for SketchUp release.

Thank ypu so much. I solved the problem by watching a couple of Youtube tutorials. When you have been importing materials through the V-ray browser, and go back to your sketchup window, the material does not whow up. You have to click on the paint bucket icon. It will contain the material uploaded throug the V-ray browser and then you add the material to a surface through the paint bucket tool it automatically shows up in the sketch up color/material window.

      Its not that intuitive though...

        Hello, Hellekir,
As an alternative to using the Paint bucket tool, you can apply materials to a selection or layer through V-Ray's Material list by right-clicking on a material and choosing "Apply Material to Selection/Layer". The change takes effect in the SketchUp viewport the moment you focus the SketchUp window - this behavior occurs on MacOS only.

        Kind regards,
        Peter
