  • Gas burner sim

I'm brand new to Phoenix FD and I've never worked with a VFX program.
We are testing at work and I've been tasked with creating a gas burner flame sim on a stove top.
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

In my searches I've realized that quality tutorials are difficult to find.

      Hello and welcome!

Here in the forums there was a topic on gas flame or blowtorch not long ago - give that one a try, I think there might have been a scene attached as well, or at least there were some tips on how to achieve the effect.

We will be adding a jet engine preset to the toolbar soon and it would easily be tweaked, but it's a matter of weeks until I get there.

      Hope this helps!

        I appreciate your response Svetlin.
        I will check it out.
I'm having difficulties with starting a post on the "Problems" forum.

Here is the issue I'm having...

My computer has blue screened many times when using Phoenix FD in 3ds max 2017....4 times so far today. It always seems to happen when I move the timeslider to view after the sim has cached. The blue screen page has
the code "Cache_Manager" as the reason for the system crash. Google search of code stated it could be running out of memory but I'm working a workstation with 256GB of RAM. I really don't know how to fix this issue.
        Any suggestions?

I just read that you have to email sales@chaosgroup.com and request to be able to post.
Email is sent and then I can post to the appropriate place.

I think it should be support@, but if the guys should forward the mail anyway I think.

We have to find out what's behind the blue screen. Are you using 3.04? Is it possible to give the nightly builds a shot just for the test and try a latest one? Could it be related to the GPU preview - did you have it on every time this happened? And finally, what are your OS and hardware specs?

            Thanks!

I'm using 3.04. I have had the GPU preview on everytime the blue screen occurs.
My OS is windows 10 pro.
              Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2643 v3 @3.4GHz (2 processors)
              RAM: 256GB
              GPU: NVidia Quadro P6000

                Hi,

Currently, we are working on the scene you've sent to our support earlier.
