  • why the liquid runs out?

hi,i'm simulating oil runs out of the barrel and start to burn.the trouble is the liquid goes out of the walls of the barrel.i flipped the inner normals of the barrel.but it doesn't work,i don't know why, anyone can help me?

    Hey,

Is the barrel two-sided geometry? If it's just one mesh sheet, it won't work it Phoenix, no matter how you flip the normals. If you are in Max, you could use a shell modifier on the geometry. Also, it looks like you are using extremely low grid resolution - please increase it to at least 4-5 million cells.

    Hope this helps!

        Hi,
The problem with your scene is that the barrel is very thin and the resolution of your grid is extremely low. That way the thickness of the wall of your barrel is way less than one voxel, so it cannot interact properly with the simulation.
I've increased both the thickness of the barrel and the grid resolution (to about 800K voxels which is still relatively low) and simulated your scene with today's nightly build (ID 27794) and the liquid behaves as it should. I am attaching the modified scene and a screen capture for you.
To achieve better result you will need even bigger resolution. If you don't want to make your geometry thicker you will need resolution of at least 25 million voxels with this setup.
