  • How would I use this brick color mask to alter a certain part of texture

I've been experimenting w/ 3d scanned textures at Texture.com. They include a color mask that can be used to alter certain parts of a texture (for instance, change the brick color, but keep mortar color the same). Below is a link to one of their brick materials, and you can see the color mask toward the bottom (w/ the bright colors).

Is there a method to use this color map in V-Ray for SU? It would be neat if it could be used in V-Ray itself to give different hues to the bricks.

Each R, G and B channel is a mask for a different part. I'm not sure what tools are available in sketchup to isolate one channel and use it as a mask but it's quite easy in 3ds max. If there's not a way to do it directly in sketchup just open the image in photoshop and use the "channels" tab to get a b/w mask for each of the colors.

      Hi guys,

In V-Ray for SketchUp channels can be extracted in the following way:
      > Create a Color Correction map and use the bitmap as a source map
      > In the Color Correction / Rewire Channels roll-out select the channel (R/G/B) you want to extract from all the drop-down menus
A gray-scale mask based on the channel selected should then be visible in the rendered texture swatch
