  • VRAY 3.6, Sketchup 2018 Pro freezing while "Building Scene"

The issue is isolated to one file, freezes at the point where the messages window says "Sketchup: Building Scene". Frame buffer does not change to the set size. File reacts similarly on both mac and PC, freezes at this point. Windows 2010 and Mac High Sierra. All other renders work fine, including similarly and more complex files. Also gets stuck building the scene when I turn off displacement, lights, and shadows. I attached a screenshot of my rendering settings, hopefully you guys will have some insight! The file is only 67mb so I don't think file size is an issue.

Have you extensively used VRayFur or VRayProxies in your project?
We'll need to investigate the scene to be able to provide you with solution.
Could you please use Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project and send the archived file at support@chaosgroup.com either directly or (depending on size) through a file-sharing service of your choice?

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hi Peter,
There was extensive use of Fur, and still is. Probably what?s setting it off.
I ended up copying my project from one Sketchup file to another layer by layer until I found the issue layer. After that, I just re-modeled the items that were in that layer and everything is working fine now. Not sure what the issue was exactly.

Glad to hear you've managed to resolve the problem!
If you still happen to have a copy of the project before you've fixed it, we're still interested in looking into it.

        Kind regards,
        Peter

Has anyone figured out how to fix this issue?

I'm having abnormally long delays when Sketchup is "building scene" upon initiating a render. This did not happen with older versions of vray/sketchup. It's killing my workflow. Initially I thought it way the vray fur but after deleting that from the mode, the issue persists. I also tried doing a clean install of both Sketchup pro and Vray but that did not fix it.

I assume this only occurs with specific projects? Could you please pack a project exhibiting the problem and send it over at support@chaosgroup.com for investigation as well as info about your system spec and version of V-Ray and SketchUp.

            Kind regards,
            Peter

Peter, I just sent an email now. I'm Raymond. I've been trying to resolve this issue for days. It's slowing us down and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Project file, system specs and software specs included. Thanks
