  • vray 3.6 render region makes the rest of the render black

    HI,
I use sketchup 2018 with vray 3.6 and I've notice when I use the render region option everything else becomes dark.
this way you cant compare to the old render and cant re-save it, which makes the command very less efficiant.

In vray 3.4 it only rendered the rectangle and left the rest intact. is there any way to make it like in the old version?

Unlike most channels, the Denoiser and EffectsResult render channels are cleared every time you restart the renderer.
You can, however, denoise the whole image once again after the region render process has finished. Simply click again on the Region render button to deselect it, then open the Asset Editor's Advanced Settings (the right-side panel), go to Render Elements > Denoiser and click the Update button. The EffectsResult channel will be recalculated for the whole image, taking into account the changes in the cropped region.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hi,
I've got similar problem. I make region render on "RBG color" channel. Banckground picture is making black and only region is rendering.
      Vray 3.6.

        Hello,

Do you happen to be using any VR camera mode or stereo enabled?

        Kind regards,
        Peter

Hey, i think the issue is that if you use the denoiser, when the render finishes it automatically switches channel to EffectsResult as you can see in the top corner of the screenshot you provided. I think you would be surprised how many people dont actualy realise (simply because they have never required it) that you can change the channel with the dropdown box in the top left. Especially when previous versions (even when denoiser was selected as an option) it would display RGB unless you specified another layer.
