  • V-Ray For SketchUp 2018 Version 3.06.01 and BugSplat> Whaaaa ;-]

    Hi.
I would like to try out the trial version before purchasing as I will need to decide on a Render option soon. V-Ray looks great. But I am having an issue loading V-Ray into SketchUp 2018. I have read on your forums that this is a known issue and should be resolved in V-Ray 3.6.02. Can you tell me when that should be? I have not been able to use the trial since I downloaded about a week ago and uninstalled V-Ray to avoid BugSplat issues opening SketchUp. I have read that installing version 3.04 can resolve the issue but i do not see it for download on the website. I assume since i am on trial and haven't purchased yet. I have also followed this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=48145 and confirmed both where installed on this machine.

Thanks for any information you might have. Dave G

you can try this method : cut v-ray plugin files " vfs.rb" from "C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2018\SketchUp\Plugins" to another folder. Open sketchup 2018 , window-> extension manager -> disable "advanced camera tools" ( maybe include plugin " dynamic component" ) then copy back "vfs.rb" file then reopen sketchup 2018. It's worked for me . Sr for my bad english .

I got exactly the same message. Tried to reinstall Vray but that didn't help. The method by Dante28290 didn't help either except that I coul start Sketchup without Vray.
Is there someone that could help?

Hi Folks. I followed this support response from Chaos Group Support:
        "
Please uninstall V-Ray then open Sketchup and from the drop down menu Window --> Extension manager disable Dynamic Components extension. Then create a scene and save it, it doesn`t matter what its gonna be the important part is to make a save. After that close Sketchup, start it again, check in the Extension manager if Dynamic Components is still disabled and close Sketchup again. Install V-Ray and start Sketchup and try to render with V-Ray."

This worked! but I get a message from SketchUp about the dangers of editing components with that extension off. which is sort of a drag but hopefully the fix will be soon.

        Dave.

I installed vray thru the extension manager window. I did not copy it directly into the folder.

Met with this problem in SketchUp 2017. Helped immediate reaction: we need to start SketchUp immediately minimize window and wait until it loads. Then maximize the window.
However, no plugins to disable not necessary.
By the way, the problem appears and disappears itself, it is difficult waiting for the patch.

I too got this error, out of the blue. Everything was fine for quite a while and then it just appeared. I tried to reinstall VRay, thinking there was a new version, and that didn't work either. It would be appreciated if someone from Chaosgroup could address this and provide a fix.

Please be informed that this has been resolved and should not be re-occurring in the latest V-Ray for SketchUp update (3.60.03) released June 28th.

Ok...WTF...I watched your stupid video on vray 3.6 and had my whole office move over from 2.0 to 3.6. 3 days ago! Additionally I had my rendering company just move over as well...Jesus fing Christ...this shit is crashing sk up at our architecture office, and at my rendering office sketchup now just sits on the spinning wheel and never fully opens. I have farted around with this crap for 4 days now...vray was working well after first install but I recently shut down all computers and rebooted and low and behold sk up is having a ton of problems...chaos group has cost us THOUSANDS in those 4 days as we have now missed 3 deadlines...furthermore these people wont get back to me when I email them from my work account.....I have been waiting for 1.5 weeks for a response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2.0 was great...3.6 is acting like a turd!...and it is bench marking way slower in all aspects....We can no longer fine tune many aspects of the software and or bounces for materials?!....in your simplifying of this software you have made it shittier....It seems like you are trying to be Enscape. AND I am forced to uninstall 2.0 on all versions of skup when installing 3.6....Why!....if I have a problem, like I am, I have to uninstall just to reinstall the old one, WTF..I am sure you have an excuse as to why you had to do that but seriously, if we found a way to land on the moon in the 60's i am sure you can find a way to allow us to keep two versions of Vray on two different versions of Sk up. Please help us so we dont have to fully migrate to octane or something at both offices.

On account is on this email, the second one, which you HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO, is DavidM@blurworkshop.com

(really tho....2.0 was awesome, what is going on with 3.6? didn't you fix all the bugs in 3.4?..

                            timkeepers Hi,

I regret that you have had an unpleasant experience with the latest V-Ray for SketchUp and would gladly assist you with migrating from v2.0 to v3.6.

Could you please elaborate and provide further details regarding the issues you are experiencing, so we can troubleshoot them individually?

In respect to the no reply to the email, we found only one case open with us (regarding an update), to which a response has been sent.

Furthermore, we would really appreciate it if you refrain from using profanities and use a more professional language.
