  • Quality setting problem?

    Hi

This is my first post here.

Im creating a liquid splash on the back of a bottle with Max and Phoenix.

You can see there are strong ridges in the liquid against the bottle.

The cell size is 0.15cms and total cells are just over 8 million.

Could you tell me how to remove or reduce the ridges please?
Do I just need to increase the cell size?
What would be a typical total cell number for this type of setup?

    Thank you and kind regards.
    Jason.

Ps. I was intending to post this to all members of the 'problem forum' but had to choose a recipient name, and I dont think this worked for me. Could someone please tell me how I should do this? Thank you.

    Hello,

If you have problems posting in certain sections of the forums, please drop a mail to support@chaosgroup.com and they'll give you access.

In this particular setup you could avoid the grid artifacts by switching to Isosurface render mode and using the bottle geometry as a Cutter geometry - you also have to check 'Inverse' so only the fluid Outside the geometry will be rendered, instead of the fluid inside the geometry which is the default for the Cutter. Isosurface would be slower to render but the Cutter would work smoothly there unlike in Mesh mode. 8M voxels for this kind of effect might also be a bit low if you want to achieve a detailed liquid splash - try increasing it to about 50 once you are happy with how it look in lower res.

    Cheers!
