  • Unintentional "ripple" effect on walls when rendering

    Hello,

I'm just working my way through the quick start guides and have noticed that in comparison to the sample renders my own ones appear to have a ripple like lighting effect on the walls and ceilings in places despite me following the tutorials pretty stringently. (see attached image)

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for your time.

    H

    Hi,

What is the full version of V-Ray for SketchUp? (Extensions > V-Ray > Help > About)

Could you please export the render settings to a .vropt file (bottom-right button) and send it to us?
Additionally, please send us a copy of the material applied to the walls and we will investigate it in detail. You can save the material to a .vrmat format from the Asset Editor, 3rd button from left to right at the bottom.

      V-Ray for SketchUp 3.60.01

      Build: 855 Hash: 942e05f3 Date: Nov 14 2017

      V-Ray NeUI Version: 1.1.0 Build: 855 Hash: 2d1076a7e Date: Nov 14 2017

      V-Ray Core Version: 3.60.03

      V-Ray AppSDK Version: 1.22.00

      Running with SketchUp Pro 2018, Windows 10, i7 7700k and a GTX1080.

After a few more tests, it would appear to be related to the GPU rendering, the same scene with the CPU seems to be fine (see pics below). I thought I had tried that earlier and it didn't make a difference but I must have been mistaken!

My nvidia drivers are up to date.

I have attached the render settings file, though the settings are just the automatic "High" settings with Irradiance Map selected. (I have tried brute force as well, it has the same result) VROPT.zip

I have attached the wall texture as well, though this is the one provided with the tutorial, I haven't changed anything in the scene other than described in the walk-through. VRMAT.zip

      Thanks for your help.
