  • Decals and Logos

I'm trying to figure out an easy way to apply a decal/logo to a wall in my scene. The wall is a white brick wall with bump and displacement - I would like the decal/logo to show up on the brick wall as if it was painted on so that it follows the same bump and displacement. The decal/logo is not a square image(meaning it has rounded corners and curves in the artwork around the boarder).

I've tried doing a blend of the materials but when I combine the two the white brick wall shows up as the default size in sketchup of 10" x 10".(The brick wall material is at 65" x 65" in sketchup currently so that it is scaled correctly in environment.)

I've also tried importing the png directly onto the wall in sketchup and then exploding it(so that it renders in vray), but when i do that it removes the translucent background of the png from the wall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - sorry if i left out any important information as this is my first post on a forum.

Maybe this tips could help you:

I found that the Displacement seem not working with Blend material, and for "offset U/V" value, it could be useful if it works as a slider in the future Versions of V-ray SketchUp.

Thank you - that is the best tutorial I have found so far regarding decals in vray for sketchup.

Seems like a lot of work to get the decal placement where you want it. Hopefully vray comes out with a decal tool that can easily place an image onto a material within the environment.

You are welcome!, as I said, replacing the "offset U/V" value with a slider would make the decal placement much easier, or you could use substance painter:and WrapR:

Yes, slider would be awesome and that substance painter/wrapR tool looks great, I will have to try that out as well - thank you very much!!
