  • Phoenix Foam Map around objects

Hey guys, will it be possible to add the ability to generate foam not only from the ocean texture but based on the proximity of objects ?
This will be very useful when making large scale shores with Pure Ocean.

    Hey,

I'd suggest you try a V-Ray Distance Tex multiplied either by the Phoenix Foam Tex, or by a custom noisy map.

    Cheers!

      Hey there,

I've created a simple setup to test things out for you in advance. I'm uploading an example scene based on Svetlin's suggestion.
Open the Material Editor and check out the setup - there are 2 Phoenix FD Foam textures that generate foam based on 2 distinct Ocean textures.
The first Ocean tex, the one with the higher wind speed, is used for the displacement (piped into the Simulator's Rendering rollout).
The second Foam texture creates foam based on the second Ocean tex which has a much lower wind speed and, as a consequence, the foam is denser there.
There's also a VRay Distance texture used as a mask for the second Foam texture so that its only visible close to the geometry specified in the Distance tex.

Here's how it looks with the sphere and box specified as the Distance tex objects:
