  • Saving Final Render as 8-bit and 16-bit PNGs with different compression levels

    Hi Everyone,
I have a problem saving different versions of my final render image.
I'd like to be able to save a PNG of my final render in both 8-bit and 16-bit and at different levels of compression. Also a JPG of my final render at different quality levels.
I know it's possible to set all these variables in the V-Ray Asset Editor and then run the render. This gives you one saved version.
Then you can save to different file types from the VFB after the render is finished.
But, saving from the VFB doesn't give you any options to select different levels of compression/quality etc, only the file type.
And going back to the Asset Editor after the render is run to change these variables doesn't impact on the file saved from the VFB.
Is there a way to save multiple versions of PNGs and JPGs after the render is run?
Otherwise do I have to rerun the render to get all my different versions? It takes 5 hours for each so this isn't practical!
    Any ideas greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Hello,
Saving an image to disk in multiple file formats simultaneously is not currently possible.
As a workaround, you could save the image as a 16/32 bit .exr and then use that file and an image-editing software of your choice to produce multiple file formats of the image without the need to re-render every time.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hi Peter,
Thanks very much for that useful workaround. I'll do that.
Good to know I wasn't missing something.
      Kind regards,
      Dan
