  • Vray 3.6 Sketchup 2018 Batch Rendering Not Working

I have several files that could batch render 10+ scenes just fine in Vray 2 and Sketchup 2016. Those same files won't batch render in Vray 3 with Sketchup 2018, in addition to lots of frustrating things with the textures and lighting from the upgrade. That?s a big problem!

Specifically, what happens is that I follow the steps in the help topic (below). Hit the batch render button. Sometimes nothing happens. Sometimes it asks for the path. If I have the path already set (because I just tried to do a batch render) it doesn't work. On the few times that a render actually starts when using the batch render button (and I hover over it for the tool-tip confirmation that I am indeed pushing the right button) it only ever renders the first scene. Most of the time though the batch render button acts more like a toggle. I click on it, it "depresses" and stays "depressed" until I click on it again, then it returns to its normal "unclicked" state. It will stay "clicked" even if I push the regular render button.

I found this question asked here:
    https://forums.sketchup.com/t/v-ray-...scene/53414/15

I have also looked at the sparse and not so helpful help here:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...y+Batch+Render

I have googled videos and tutorials and according to them it all should work.

I just tested it on a default scene with a single person in it and the batch render worked fine. My file I need to render is vastly more complex?

I have spent some time searching through the forums here, but I will admit that my frustration and deadline panic may have made my search less effective than it might have been.

I?m using Vray 3.6 on a new Windows machine, pretty good graphics card, decent amount of memory, pretty good processor. I can provide specs if that will help.

I have had a lot of success with the previous setup, Sketchup 2016 and Vray 2, so if there is no solution here, then I can downgrade. I hope.

    Hi,

Could you please write to us at support@chaosgroup.com with some additional information?
    - What is the full version of V-Ray for SketchUp? Please provide a screenshot of the 'About' windows (Extensions > V-Ray > Help > About)
    - What are the full specifications of your computer?
    - Are you using any other 3rd party plugins?

Additionally, could you share the project with us so we can investigate in detail? If this is alright, please send us an archived copy (Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project) via email or a file-sharing service of your choice.

      Hello Georgi,
In addition to the info I sent via a private message, I want to add another good/bad bit more. Just about half an hour ago I made a couple small texture changes and figured what the hell and pushed batch render. And it worked! The textures I modified have gone all weird, but the batch is rendering away. The difference from yesterday that I can think of: Sketchup and Chrome were the only two programs active today, I had several more active yesterday (again, as I'm sure you've noticed me say) that my work space yesterday was no different than when I successfully batch rendered from the earlier versions. It appears to also be using the network rendering today as well, but since rendering wasn't working yesterday I can't tell if that's different or not.

      Thanks.

        New update!
Batch render crashed 2/3 of the way through.
