  • Unexpected behavior while exporting vrscene file

    Greetings,

I encountered this problem, when I tried to export the vrscene file using windows (8.1 pro, build 9600) command prompt. I am using Autodesk Maya 2016 SP6P14.

I run the following command to export the vrscene, instead I get the render image (exr) and I don't see the exported vrscene.

    C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2016\bin\Render.exe -r Vray -cam render1 -rd "D:\image\export" -exportFileName "D:\image\export\test.vrscene" -noRender -rl layer1 <filename>

I am new to vray and windows, and cannot find what's wrong with the command. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Could you please test without using the command for the layer (-rl layer1). Also, do you get any errors i the log? Can you reproduce the issue with a simple scene?

That's odd, it's exactly how it should work.
Do you get any errors? Can you post the log after this command is run? Keep in mind the arguments are case-sensitive, but even if something is mistyped, there will be an error message.

Thanks for the feedback, Zdravko and Alex.

        Zdravko,
        1. I tested without -rl flag and noticed the same behavior
        2. After you recommended, create a sample scene in the same environment, and the same command worked. Exported vrscene and didn't write exr. So, there's something wrong with the scene.

Alex, I'm getting tonnes of mental Ray warnings and some errors. I presumed it's safe to ignore them. But it seems like, one of the errors are causing the behavior. I am on my mobile now, will attach the log later today.

        Thanks again

If you can send the scene our way, we'll be able to figure out the problem a lot quicker. So if that's an option, let me know. It sounds like something in the scene, so having a closer look will definitely help.
