Mental ray Reality Server

Hi

Our director here at work has seen a presentation by another company who showed him some project on Mental ray's "Reality Server".

He was very impressed and now wants to change everything to Mental Ray.

He not very IT literate so I need to discuss any pro and cons of the change.

But I don't have any experience with "Reality Server"

Any advise or experience would appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply.

What I got from the directors discription, was that is a real time rendered scene. Where it is stored on a remote server which can access from any where. The presentation even accessed it via a PDA.

It also allows you to edit change the model, with the rendering happening in real time.

I was wondering if it was some sort of texture baked scene of sort. I cannot image any high quality real time rendering facility that allows a person to manipulate the model, unless it is limited to low polygon scenes.

I have not seen it myself but just going on a description.
