Used to know the work around for this in 2.0; and obviously there are the check box options for rhino renderer (receive and cast shadows). Anyone know the way to stop a material from receiving all shadows? i'm trying to apply this to a water texture to get it looking right. Any help will be gratefully received.

You could disable the 'Cast Shadows' parameter in the 'Material Options' rollout ( https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...aterialOptions )
Another approach would be to create an Override Material, where you could slot a completely transparent material in the 'Shadows' parameter. For more detailed information regarding V-Ray's Override Material, please visit https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...7C+MtlOverride

the example given in the link that has 'raytrace options' and the two check boxes i dont seem to have. In its place I have an option that can says 'invisible for reflections/refractions' and a check box for 'optimize exclusion; is this indicative of the 3.6 vray version? or am i missing something here?1 Photo
