  • What is a Proxy? New user reading through manual

Is this defined somewhere else in the manual?

    Thanks,

Proxies are mesh geometry models stored in .vrmesh or .abc file formats which can be imported in a Rhino project as placeholder preview objects but appear complete only at render time. This way you can introduce numerous or very complex models to your project and continue working on it without causing your viewport to slow down tremendously. Furthermore, this is a way to transfer ready-to-render models between different applications through V-Ray.
Since the latest v3.6 feature update, .vrscene files can be imported as proxies as well. Be sure to check the following pages:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...+%7C+VRayProxy
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...+%7C+VRayScene

For further info, I also recommend watching the V-Ray 3 for Rhino webinars:
    V-Ray 3.4 Webinar: https://youtu.be/2XsVRqmBZrY (Proxy demonstration begins at 35:40)
    V-Ray 3.6 Webinar: https://youtu.be/xlYjiwp03zY (VRayScene import discussed at 19:35)

    Kind regards,
