  • Different render outputs from same file

Sorry if the question is too dumb. but I?m learning here
If I open my colleague?s project on my computer, the render output is clearly different from his, on mine everything is rendering very red and saturated!
We compared render settings and everything ?seems? the same.

We tried importing his VROPT file via ?import render settings?, and I get to select the VROPT file and press open, but nothing changes in the V-Ray Asset Editor window? and everything the render button becomes unavailable (greyed out).

I attach 2 photos, one rendered in my computer and one in his. The material for the wood floor is supposed to be the same!

I'm on Sketchup Pro 2018 on my Mac, he's on Windows and with a previous version of Sketchup, may that be part of the issue somehow? Still, there's something off with my settings...
    Help appreciated!

Assuming your using VRay v3.6 Check in Extensions->Vray->File Path Editor.

I have experienced a similar issue where the link to the original texture is broken and then renders differently. If your using textures from your desktop etc. when your colleagues computer may be looking for files that it cant access, i think it then does some guesstimating.

Especially if its trying to use paths from a mac.

Have you tried Packaging the project and sending him it that way? (Extensions -> Vray - > Pack Project)

It then packs all of the external images into the same folder as the model which means it can then find the file even if its not in the original location it looks at it. (From my understanding if the image is in the root folder of the model or any sub folder belonging to the root folder sketchup will find and automatically relink any broken links.)

When i first moved up from Vray 2 to Vray 3.4 broken links were the bane of my life when it came to rendering so i'm hoping this info will help you!
