  • 3.6 - Save all materials as VRMat files - one shot

    Hi guys

With VRay 2.0 for Rhino, I'm sure I could save all the materials one shot as vrmat files. With 3.6 I can't find a way to do it and seems I have to do it one by one.

    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Have you tried the menu V-Ray -> Pack Project?

I did, but that just gives me a zip containing the Rhino file and couple jpg textures. It does not give me any vrmat files...

This is the VRay 2.0 feature that I'm missing in VRay 3.6:

This is indeed currently not possible.
Based on user feedback, this feature will be once again reintroduced in the next major V-Ray for Rhino version.

          Kind regards,
          Peter

Not in 3.60.03 yet for what I can see ...
I also miss this feature from vray 2 as well as 'import' to replace the properties of an existing material with a saved material keeping the same name and object or layer existing assignment.
The new 'Replace' material feature, although useful in some instances, has a different purpose for what I can see.
Please add those functions in the next release.

The ability to save multiple materials is still being scheduled for the next major release (V-Ray Next for Rhino & SketchUp), as previously mentioned.
As for the current implementation of material replacement, there are no plans to alter its workflow for now. We are currently evaluating a possible improvement which can save a few clicks.

Complaints and wishes regarding the V-Ray User Interface are incredibly useful to our team! Any thoughts you have on it would be appreciated.

                Kind regards,
                Peter

                  Hi Peter,

at the VfR3 beta round some months before there was some suggestions and requests for the UI, but without so much luck. Maybe for V-Ray Next for Rhino we could talk about some improvements. One reason for me to still use VfR2 is the UI of VfR3. I would be glad, if there is a better chance of some UI changes now.

                  Best -
