  • fast moving boat

    I am using "PhoenixFD_ship.max" with basically much faster movement since this is an Interceptor. I am getting these walls of wake that never seem to diminish. Also I am not getting any foam or mist in the center of the wake like seen in the attached photo. Overall I would like less tall wake that diminishes quickly, and a ton more foam. Any ideas what setting I would need to play with to accommodate a much faster vessel?

    Hey,

    Check the Scene Scale option in the Grid rollout and reduce it until the container dimensions in the Grid rollout match those you needs for the boat. Note that the Ocean preset is meant for a large ship, so the sim acts like the boat is tens of meters long.

    Regarding the foam, you can use a trick like in the ship example scene or the ship tutorial on the docs site - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...p+in+the+Ocean, i.e. simulating the effect of the propellers with an underwater source that creates velocity.

      Thanks, that lowered the height of the wake. But the life of the wake is still to long. Is there way to keep the height the same, but lower the life of the wake?

            I'm getting more foam as I've used your advice and added emitters under the boat. How can I get it to spread out more so its not just a narrow strip behind the boat?

              From the reference image it seems like the liquid and splashes from the wake of the boat need to slide over the liquid surface, so you need to boost the Droplets Surfing option.
