  • Please help - my floor reflects onto the walls and ceilings

Please help, just started to look at vray demo and for some reason if i have a blue floor then this gets reflected onto the ceilings and walls. I have looked at maps other people have done and cannot see any difference in the map settings.

    Many thanks

      here is the image

I have really only started so i am messing with settings, trying to follow other examples.

This is a kitchen exmaple i downloaded just to try and get things right.

I have QMC with samples at 16 and Global subdivisions at 16 (followed another tutorial on this) second light bounce is Light Cache, the first is irridiance map.

Any tips would be helpful, have spent 4 days and nights on lighting and maps so far.

I assume that the advanced version that everyone is using has different light settings/values to the demo beta one cos im just getting mad images that are well out with the lighting.

      Many thanks for any help.

that is light / colour bounce ...that floor is a very strong colour, it going to happen.. texture your whole scene and i think you'll find it will come together a lot better once you have more in the scene.

          Thanks

Yeh i added some more textures and not getting that problem (at least cant see the blue)

Do i assume its best to use textures all the time loaded into vray materials and use vray for colours as well rather than 3ds max ones?

One thing i have noticed on Forums is that everyone either has a wooden floor or whiteish floor, havent seen anyone with a deep red pile carpet

          Thanks for that

I would use vray all the time as they render faster and are generally better than standard max.. there are ways of controlling the colour bleed, send and recieve GI for example. but once you complete the whole scene im sure it will look ok ..

              still a problem

I decided to do my own scene and its really going pear shaped

The ceiling is almost the same colour as the floor (well nearly)

i have used white ceiling and blue floor, why is it this bad.

once again i notice that using vray, most people use the standard, cream walls and wooden floor in their images, does this mean you are not allowed to use red, green, blue, pink....colours.

I know im being a pain but is this a limitation of Vray?

Getting frustrated now, should i use a different render if i want to use a blue carpet?

              Many thanks

show me your settings dude ... perhaps you are bouncing the light to much? .... use 0.7 for both bounces and see how you go .. also adjust the saturation to 0.6 ..

I think the problem you are describing is just a general feature of any GI renderer (colorbleed like Natty said).

go to vray:: system :: object settings
select the floor object from the list on the left
change the GI generate value from 1.0 to 0.6 like Natty said

This post is just saying exactly what Natty said except I thought maybee you dont know how to change this value.

                  hope you get it working!
