  • color of materials

    Hi all,
please how to change hue of a downloaded picture not only in sketchup sheet but also in vray. I want to have rendered light brown instead of cherry brownand I am able to change it only in sheet not in v-ray.

And the second question. I have chrome-polished bar on a chair and in sketchup sheet it seems to be white. I want to be sure I will distinguish it so it would be handy to have it in different color in sketchup but still the same in vray. Could you help me? Thank you

    Hello,

Each material created in V-Ray also adds its counterpart in SketchUp and vise versa. Changes done to one of them are instantly synchronized in the other as well. V-Ray's Diffuse color is linked to the SketchUp material color and V-Ray's Diffuse texture to the SketchUp material texture.
However, the colorization options you use in the SketchUp material editor are not translated to V-Ray. One way to apply this change to V-Ray is to use SketchUp's "Edit texture image in external editor" button, save the image file and replace it as Diffuse texture.

Another option, which is the recommended V-Ray workflow, is to slot a Color Correction texture (https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...lor+Correction) in the Diffuse map slot and edit the original texture within.

Keep in mind the material synchronization between V-Ray and SketchUp materials can be toggled off for each material individually through the Material Binding options - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ayBRDF-Binding
In regards to your second question, you can disable the binding between your Chrome material in V-Ray and its SketchUp counterpart and use another color or texture only for the SketchUp viewport. This way you will have a distinct representation in the viewport which will not affect the render output.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Hi, this is what I see in Vray Diffuse. I dont see hue/saturation/lightness settings for Vray material. Could you advice me where exactly I can find Color Correction? Or do you mean after rendering?

second question I solved. It worked. Thank you

The Color Correction texture is found in the Asset Editor's texture list:
