  • Any advice to composite phoenix ocean with real ocean

    Hello,
i'm trying to make a submarine surfacing with phoenix fd and composite it with a real footage of a river...
If someone could help me with the workflow ?
    thanks in advance

Well it should be just like any other 3d shot.
If you have a moving camera for the footage - you track it first and bring the camera data in 3dsmax or Maya, then you do your simulation, render it out and composite it over the footage.

      Thanks for replying Georgi
      But maybe i'm not clear.
For the track and the sim, i'm ok
My problem is to composite the border of my sim with the real shot.
For example, if i want to composite only a rectangle of sim with a boat on it with a real sea, how can i deal with the real texture of my shot ?
Do i need to replace my entire real sea or can i fade my cg texture to match my the real one ?

That really depends on the shot. You can do it both ways - you will have to choose what works best for you.
Blending the rendered water surface should look more real but it will be tricky while rendering the whole thing will be easier for composting later but it might not look that realistic. It all depends on the shot.

          Thx Georgi,
A tut would be very helpful for me...
I will try again both way on a more simple scene.
