  • Confusing GPU Usage... some times it work some times it won't

So, It happened in one of my projects... when I try to use the GPU and CPU only the CPU would render and GPU just sits and does nothing.

Thought that there was a problem with the drives... Nope, updated them all.

Then when I started a new project … Ta,Da!! GPU works again...!

Today in another project it refused to work... apparently it works in some projects and in others it won't. I assume that there is some kind of setting that needs to be changed.

Today, it didn't work the project I'm trying to render... so I opened an older file and the GPU works...?

so I'm not sure what the trigger is here. If anyone know please let me know

When I try to render only using the GPU I get nothing... just black and in the status the window says Finished

a little digging in the same file and there appears to be some elements in the file preventing the GPU from Working...
I copied all the files to the other file where GPU rendering does work... and it wont render using the GPU anymore.

Even after Hiding or deleting the files... the working file just won't use the GPU at all.

        Update:
The error is caused by an open mesh I'm using in interior Shots... if I place it in any file the problem occurs... the thing is, this only started happening after I've upgraded to Rhino 6...

        EDIT:
The problem is not the Mesh it se but rather the material used

        Developers,
I will be more than happy to share the file with you to fix the problem

... if anyone feels like trying it out... use GPU Render only and share with us

Additionally, please provide the following information:
            - What is the full version of V-Ray for Rhino? (V-Ray > Help > About)
            - What is the full version number of the GPU drivers?

                Hello, Saeed,

Thank you for all the detailed info you've provided! Our developers will investigate the erroneous material.
In the meantime, I can only advise you to either replace it or stick to CPU mode when rendering it.

                Kind regards,
                Peter

                  Hello again,
The bug is only reproducible when slotting a Falloff texture within a Mix(Value) texture. A fix will be implemented in the next major release version.
For v3.6, please refrain to use this exact texture combination if you wish to use your GPU.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

                  Kind regards,
                  Peter
