I just recently upgraded to Vray 3.6 w/ Rhino 6 and when I view my model in rendered mode the opaque materials display as Vray materials (displaying their bitmap/textures), but the perforated materials do not. I have a simple perforated metal screen that renders correctly in Vray, but cannot be viewed in render mode. Is there a setting I am missing to fix this either in Rhino or Vray? Thanks!

Hello, Jason,
Each V-Ray material is automatically synchronized with its Rhino material counterpart.
The V-Ray Refraction parameter is linked to the Rhino Transparency material. Since Rhino does not offer separate slots for Refraction and Opacity but instead a single slot named Transparency V-Ray only synchs one parameter, leaving Opacity not represented in the Rhino Viewport.
If you wish to have an opacity representation in the viewport despite all this, you can do the following:
1. In the Rhino material properties, disable the Plugin checkbox
2. Add the image file texture used for V-Ray Opacity to the Transparency map slot
3. For Rhino 6, from the material dropdown list, select Use Plug-in: V-Ray for Rhino. In Rhino 5, simply reenable the Plug-in checkbox.
Kind regards,
