    Hi guys,
Got to do some diamond renders and I'm looking into the best way to get this done.
I need to get a lot of details in them as I'll have to be pretty close up and high ress.
Few details shots added as examples.

How does Vray Next handle caustics ATM?
About diffraction, we can set values by hand, any way to get real physical values of what it should be? The same way we know IOR for diamond is 2.418, no idea what it should be in diffraction?

I feel like a lot of people have tried to get some renders done of diamond in a couple of minutes and made some tutorials about them, but none have been able to really get truly photo-realistic.

    Any helps/suggestions would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Stan

Hi Stan, thinking playing around with dispersion (Abbe number) will be helpful. You get the prism effect from light refracting through the gem stones into it's rainbow colours - the effect is less pronounced the higher the abbe number. Do post some of your finished renders
