  • Glossiness or Roughness?

    Hey all!

I've been experimenting with the PBR workflow for a while now, and while the results have been pretty decent, I still am not sure which would be the more "correct" workflow with V-Ray? I've noticed that using a glossiness map yields a minute differences to how the material is interpreted with the roughness setting (with the gloss map inverted and choosing the roughness setting), so what would be the way to go? Also, am I "supposed" to use 100 percent map opacities in materials, since using something other than 100 gives the ability to change the glossiness/roughness slider which then gives some more options on how to interpret materials. Thank you for all the feedback!

All calculations internally are exactly the same whether you use glossiness or roughness; only the input values are inverted in one case.

    Best regards,
