  • Connection between max subdivs/noise treshold and image resolution

Anyone capable of explaing the theory behind the connection between max subdivs and/or noise threshold and image resolution? Like if you render an image with 1000x1000 px versus an image with 8000x8000 px. What should be different in these settings to not waste render time?

Nothing should be different based on resolution alone.
    The settings are adaptive.

Ok, so the best practice would be to change nothing if testing production rendring at 1000x1000 brute force and then changing to 8000x8000 (and nothing else) to do the final production? I recall there were some discussions about this in previous vray versions, but it might be connected to the irradiance map.

        Correct.
With the default settings, you shouldn't need to change a thing.

Notice it would take 64 times longer to converge than the 1k picture, and this if the sizing up doesn't show more fine detail which will need resolving.
