  • pseudo-color sunlight rendering - total light through day?

I want to produce a pseudo-color rendering, or even a greyscale one, showing the total amount of sunlight hitting a building throughout one day. As if I rendered every time of day and "burned" it onto one rendering.

Anyone have thoughts on how to make this?

Just create a lot of lights along the line of the sun´s travel path. Then use an override material that is 100% self illuminated and has a falloff map in the diffuse slot. Set the Fallof type to Shadow/light and adjust th lights´ intensity (best use intanced lights).

Turns out to something like this (with the colors set to green and red in the falloff-map) :

there is an addon for radiance called radmap, dealing with real weather data from SatelLight, doing that task. it's not max, but it is.
