  • I'm new to Vray

    Hello

My name is Mat Everett, I have just took the plunge in learning this awesome renderer. I have had some great help from a fellow friend but I would like to get some help form the community. I have just fininshed this very basic interior, I have been really working on my carpet materiral & I like the way the Vray lighting makes it look. I have used alittle bump with some Vray displacement. let me know your ideas on this...or what can make it better.... I am, also working on getting the hot spots to go away form the ceiling....

    Thanks

Good starting image. If you want to post up your settings and an explanation of your lighting setup I would be happy to help you out.

Well I have first set off with Vray Lights in all the windows along with a sun on the out side giving me some nice shadows from the windows below is a screen shot of the file, along with a screen shot of my settings. I am going to add the furniture in this morning a do a few renders of it, We shall see what the lighting dose than.

      Thanks

        okay I'm running into issues.

Okay I'm running into issues. Im sure 95% of it is Materials & objects. But I think I'm getting the hang of it now. I still need tons of help getting shadows done right, getting my materials up to par... But I am really liking this new renderer...

        Thanks

Matthew, try using the light cache for your secondary bounces, you will find that it will brighten up some of those darker areas.
If you want email me a stripped out version of your file and I will happily set it up how I would, then you can "reverse engineer" it to see how someone else would do it.

I did it I say, I like the settings you had this image at. The one posted below is a diffrent file but I just changed everyhting to mock the one you adjusted for me. I see the diffrence in allot of things. I like the GI Environment settings, I never though to touch that, but now with that setting you can dim the lights and use less of them as well. Thanks for the help, All the info will help me move forward in my learning of Vray.......

                      Thanks

I think Im making good progress!

I still need to learn allot of things, But I am moving up in the chain of learning. If you guys can give me some points I would appricate it...

There are a few things I'm having issues with.

1.) Fireplace. to flat need something more realistic
2.) Boat looks very out of place
3.) Black vertical mantel, I can't get a shine out of it.
4.) Throw rug looks liek it is floating ? how to make it not look that way maybe add a cloth mod to it?
like I said any advice is appricated....good or bad!
                        Thanks
