    ah ok, i was working on a project in 3.6 where the physical camera doesn't have the same lens distortion rollout as in vray next.

        i wasn't able to get the .vrlens file you posted to load as a texture under the "lens distortion" rollout, only under "vray properties / lens distortion" - in which case it didn't work with RT / activeshade.

        no matter, i've switched the project over to vraynext/max2020 now

          you’re right, 3.6 and RT, I missed that.
          anyway. texture slot requires bitmap describing distortion. more flexible between applications but stick to .lens files in VRay I guess.
          you can also edit the .lens file in VRay’s Lens Analysis Tool to fit your needs.

            thanks - i've had a look at the lens analysis tool but don't really understand how it works yet. need to do a bit more reading / find some tutorials.
