  • Realistic reflections on metals. How can I make my stainless steel look better?

    I feel like the metals in the rendering below are off but I'm not sure why. Is it just me or is there something I'm clearly missing? Mainly talking about the stainless steel and brass.

    For some reason I've been having a hard time grasping how to make accurate metal and understanding IOR. In Vray 6, It seems that IOR has NO effect on metals with metalness set to 1. Apparently Vray now calculates the IOR based off of the diffuse Click image for larger version

    Hi, thanks for posting Please take a look at this thread. If the material's meatless is set to 1, the IOR value has no effect. It is calculated off the diffuse and reflection colour.
