    So I posted this rendering on reddit for the purpose of getting feedback on whether or not 1hour long render times for this scene is good. This scene does have a fare amount of reflections, especially the stainless steel material.

    The responses I got from a few individuals was that the same rendering in blender cycles for a high resolution image would take 2 minutes.

    While my scene wasn't rendered in gpu, there's no way it would have been around 2 minutes obviously so Is this information about rendering times in blender accurate? (the users also had simular computer specs as my, RTX 3080)

    Without knowing the resolution in pixel, the noise threshold and your system specs there’s no way to tell if the scene is fast or slow.

        Doesn't seem absurd. Nice render.

        Did you try Path Tracing? Looks like the type of scene that could benefit.

          Don't know about Blender render times on that, but I do know that different people have different tolerance levels for denoising. I think it generally looks like crap compared to non-denoised. Your render looks like a decent balance (though I might actually blend a little back in). If you are tolerant of the artificial noise-free look then many renders can be made faster just by using more denoising and less render time.

            One hour is very tolerable for me, for an interior. I once did some work for a studio that used a GPU render engine. We split up the workload, and my scenes were taking 45 minutes and theirs took 5 minutes. Their scene didn't have displacement and looked really weak; mine was much better. It has always been speed vs. quality.

              An hour might be too much, the scene is quite simple. I'd say it should be about 30 minutes in Chaos Cloud.

                It's likely that who ever replied that cycles can render this in 2 minutes is mistaken. There is a slim chance this kind of interior render can be rendered honestly with path-tracing (which is what cycles is) in 2 minutes. It maybe possible to render it in smaller amount of time using multiple gpus. Or if the render is biased then it can also be faster. I've quickly researched interior renders in cycles and they 1 don't look that great and they also complain about noise and render time. Vray uses latest and greatest tech so its not like cycles has discovered some kind of miracle rendering technology.

                  I found this tutorial where in the end he gets a HD 1920x1080 render in 1 minute, but its a heavily noised render which is then denoised. So I can suspect that by using a good denoiser it's possible to render something quickly. However I have to point out that the quality of the denoising can be an issue. For stills potentially it will pass, but we render animations 99% of the time so denoising isn't an option for us. Also this render does look cg to me and not as photo real as your render.
