  • Vray/Corona 3dsmax -> Standalone ?

    Hi everyone,

    Been working for years with 3dsmax and vray/corona and a bunch of plugins, mains being itoonsoft apps, forest pack and railclone.
    I'm envisionning to build some render nodes based on linux OS and I was wondering what your experience was with exporting to vrscene (corona scene?) to render them in Vray/Corona Standalone.
    Have you got any obvious red flags that I have to be aware of?
    Is it a simple straight forward export to vrscene, send to deadline, boom?
    How is mainly forest pack managed by vrscene exporter ?
    Does Chaos Scatter export perfectly fine to vrscene for standalone rendering?

    Basically, how do you feel my life will be a depth of pain if I want to jump in the hoop?

    Thanks a lot!

    Actually, couple of other questions :

    * If we have vrayproxy in the scene, will they be included in the vrscene or can they stay referenced? We have massive amount of proxy, the vrscene would be insanely huge if they are embedded (animated trees, people, etc)
    * Does the render nodes running on something like ubuntu will show the Vray VFB when rendering like it does when you render through 3dsmax on the slaves ? Or is it only command line and no GUI is visible on Ubuntu's desktop?
    * Because the standalone loads the vrscene, is the loading of the scene faster than when it needs to load 3dsmax (max i so slow to load)

    Cheers

      Is there a way to have the DR setting to look automatically for nodes in standalone the same way we have it in 3dsmax ?
      Idealy I would start a VrayDR job to pick up some nodes on the network and then they would dynamically join the V-Ray standalone render.

      Would the setting in the vrscene like this accept any node that broadcast it's availability on the network ?
