  • only shadows visible, how do I?

    hi all, quick question,
I want to render an object on a plane but in the render only the shadows genderated on the plane are visible and not the plane. See here this I can do in Brazil just cant seem to get it in Vray,
    I am using max's matte/shadow material.
I tried it using the Vray frame buffer but the plane was visible in PS, I have a feeling it is a simple thing I am missing,

    thanks
    Tom

Try saving to PNG (including the Alpha), then open in PS. Woks for me.

still cant get this to work, In Brazil I just put a matte shadow material on the plane hot render, open in PS and get the above image. Tried this in Vray, no luck, I keep getting the the plane in the alpha channel, I am not seeing anything on this in the online help file, please any insight to what I am doing wrong would be great,
      Thanks

Right-click your plane, choose v-ray properties.

Check the Matte Object checkbox. Set alpha contrib to -1.0. Check the box for shadows. That should do it for you.
