  • Superfast Raytracing Algorythm?

    http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/7322-n...algorithm.html

it's a bit beyond me, but i'd like to hear from anyone that is in the knows if this guy's taking the piss or being dead serious...

Wouldn't know if this is the best place to post it, please move the thread if you feel like...

I think this has been floating around for a year now, I first saw it on CGTalk a long time ago. Really, what this describes is pure scanline rendering.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

If you notice, the date on the thread is Oct. 2004. So that's, what? 14 years out of date in dog years?

              eheh, indeed.
I literally stumbled on that, never meant it to be a new thing.
It was new to me, though :P

                History (will teach us nothing):

In ~1990(or even earlier) a guy from the east announced fracpack - the most advanced compression software around ...it was the time when arj was the #1.

It was the time when the mandelbrot or other fractal figures were around ..so it was for everyone clear the fractal mathematic can do wonder.. you got a mandelbrot picture and zoom in and zoom in and zoom in and there was still details...

anyway ... you got this fracpack software from strange channels and packed a megasized 2mb tif to 40kb ..woha!

well... when extracting this archive, you got the message "1.april"

It's so easy to manipulate ppl ..just take care wherever you read something on the web.
