  • remove obj. from rendering via obj. propperties

    hiho

my brain gives me a crazy idea this week

imagen a indoor still - gigant resolution - days of rendering
client say " fine but please remove the table from the rendering until tomorow"

what can we do to remove that table from the rendering ?
we actually can just render region or clonestamp it away
    he comes my idea
if it could be possible to give this object a property to "unrender" all pixel this obj. influence, you easiely could remove it ... hard to explain what I mention ... hm ...

the renderer ask each pixel in the image if it is influence by the obj. shadow reflection alpha hidden ..
if yes then render it new but without that influence
    all non-releated pixel are black

this is maybe a stupid idea but the benefit whould be to remove everything from a rendering
dont know how it could work with GI and dont know if it whould render faster
but its just something I want to share here

lol - did someone understood me

i did, but from a first tought about it i would guess it would be slower then a simple region render.

If you remove an object you'll change the gi around it since it might be blocking a lot of direct or indirect light - if you do a region render you'll get totally different lighting at the edges where the two renders meet so you'll ahve to do some photoshop colour correction or masking to make the two blend together.

yes - in thet point it whould not work
so lets imagen a non GI scene ...

Just a guess but I imagine it wouldn't be any faster (probably slower) than rerendering the whole scene since it would have to perform all of the prior calculations for every pixel to determine if that removed object influences what's happening at that pixel.

What if the object casts shadows?

For this to work you'd have to have a scene with no shadows and no reflections - an object will affect everything around it otherwise.

good idea in theory but the practicalities behind it would make the saved files at the end of rendering MASSIVE.
Sometimes a simple region render is the best thing to do
