  • large proxy - memory limit?

    Hi

what does the memory limit? Is it the max RAM that Vray use during a render? Is the impact is only on Dynacim object like proxies? Lets say that I have a huge Proxy (around 7 milions poly), at 400Mb, render takes ages. I rased it up at 800 and it's helped a lot. How do I know when to stop, can I raise it again at 1200Mb? 2000Mb? My system have 4Gb RAM and I use DR with another similar system. finaly, is there a link with the resolution of the image?

    Thanks

The resolution of the image doesn't matter that much - the geometry is after all the same, regardless of the image size.

There is no specific guide for the memory limit, the right values might be different for different scenes. Generally, the higher the limit, the better. It also depends on how much RAM other parts of the scene like static geometry and bitmaps are consuming. You can try to monitor RAM usage in the Task manager while V-Ray is rendering; if there is still RAM left, you can raise the memory limit.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
