Theres alot of different rumors regarding the future/releasedate of Intels larrabee.
If well ever see It, will It carry any benefits for eg vray or any other "software" renderers?

As I understood it Larrabee is a bunch of x86 cores and does that mean that it would make an easier transition to support "normal" rendering?

What would the guys at chaosgroup prefer? Multicore x86 -Larrabee or other GPU solutions with OpenCl or CUDA?

we've already seen what vray can do with cuda, so id love some open CL so its not limited to nvidia.

The GPU version of V-Ray is written for OpenCL, so it will run on any device that supports it.

Yeah, theres no doubt that OpenCl is the better choice. I was just curious if Larrabee is different/has any benefits from other hardware. From what I gathered Its built by several x86 cores and Intel is actually marketing it as "computational device" with 16/24/32/48 cores. For me that looks pretty much like a renderfarm in a box. Any other insights?
