  • image slicing

When using Render pal there is an option to render large files into slices i.e. a 6000x6000 into 1000x1000 chunks so you can put them together in photoshop.
Is this a feature that vray supports and can it be done via command line?

if vray supports region rendering in command line then you could define the regions and render them. I don't know if it does though.

you can render regions with the -region flag.

Renderpal should support that flag already, i think. But is this the best way to go? Wouldn't it be more simple to just use distrib. rendering?

DR should be the easier way to go, but we still have sometimes the problem that we get these square image errors (also all textures are available for each client). So we need to render the image on one machine.

OK so lets say the image is w=2040 x h=1024 and to split into 4 regions the render region flag would be -region=x0;y512;x1024;y512 for the first top left hand section
              Is this right?

I just tried the default "Image slicing" option from Renderpal and it seems to work fine here. Although i did not reattach the pieces because of.. uhm... laziness. I think you wouldd have to use the "-reg" flag from the command line, followed by the pixelboundarys left, right, bottom, top. Something like
                render -reg 10 30 5 25 myscene.mb

EDIT: Ah, you go with the standalone. Then forget my post
