So whats the difference between RAW shadow render elements and just shadow. What does RAW refere to?

It depends if you're rendering raw render elements or not.

Shadow is subtracted from lighting, but if you're using raw elements, lighting = rawLight * diffuse, and rawShadow is what's subtracted from rawLight.
