  • Calculating Cropped Rendering

I was just curious of how Vray works with Cropped rendering and the possibility of improvement. (If Needed)

I noticed this morning doing cropped renderings that Vray calculates the cropped area just from the top to bottom. When doing a full image Vray would calculate from both top and bottom working its way toward the middle. Wouldn't it be beneficial for Vray to work the same way in a cropped rendering, calculating from both the top and bottom to speed things up?

    Hopefully that made sense.

    Thanks.

      Hrm...I'm on Max 5.0 (at home I have 5.1)

But both machines are 2 processors and are set up to use them fully.

Maybe it is related to your other problem...

Actually hopefully this will clear up what I'm mentioning. I have cropped render turned on but the calculation will still take long (the same time as a full image). It seems that Vray still calculates the whole image but just renders the cropped image. Can't vray just calculate the GI for the cropped region?

          Thanks.

Workaround/solution depending on how you look at it, is to Use "Bucket mode" for calculating the GI pass in this case.
