Some new technology recently unveiled, claims to use raytracing techniques to capture all of the light coming towards a lens, one benefit is it allows you to manipulate the depth of field on the photo after the fact

Since Vray is essentially a virtual camera, could this ever be implemented as a way to get perfect post DOF? (My guess is yes, but it would take forever to render).
