I have seen many artists doing awesome renderings with HDRI lighting. I tried using HDRI but no success. I map HDRI in dome light along with Vray sun positioning to light source in HDRI. Problem is that HDRI map looks to big in scale which is why trees etc in HDRI looks too big in reflections. AM i doing any thing wrong because of which HDRI scale is coming wrong? Is there any way to scale it down?

Are you mapping the HDRI correctly? (is the HDRI created to this mapping type?)
I had some issues with the scale too... as far as i know it cant be changed (i did a forum search about this a couple of days ago).
Maybe is some expert there with some new info...

Hi Prateek
the scale can be misleading sometimes.
you have to bear in mind that loads of HDRIs outthere are shot quite close to its surroundings, thats why you get them too big.
resolution is another thing...if you r rendering 3500px wide image for example, you need HDRI at least around 14.000 wide.
i usually result in using different HDRI and backdrop if i want crisp background.
As Brett said, its better to post image in this caseMartin

yea the HDRI Scale is a bit tricky but in a case like this you might want to map images around your building of the environment ( like building trees etc) and scale them as you need, and then for the HDRI find one of just the sky. that way you could control the scale of the environment reflections and not worry about the Sky HDRI

Thank you all! i understood my mistake.. also realized using hdri for reflection is not a good idea.. attaching snapshot of hdri which i was trying to use, also attaching images whch i was initially trying to render with hdri but land up doing renderings with old vray sun and physical cam.. client was as usual in rush to print them.. Probably i need to search for really good images which can be used as background aswell as for reflection on glass structures.. any suggestions? Thanks once again!
